Common Questions
What format do I use to send messages?
Use this format: [business name or category] [location]
Location can be any of the following:
- Zip code: 01701
- City and state: tampa fl
Can I search by partial words, like "mcdon" for McDonalds?
Yes. In fact, searching by partial words often yields better results, because it accommodates variation in how businesses list themselves in the yellow pages (McDonalds, McDonald's, Mc Donalds...).
How are the search results ordered?
They are ordered by distance from the address you supplied (nearest locations shown first).
How wide of an area does WHERE search?
A 50 mile radius from the location you specify.
TroubleShooting
Why didn't I get any results?
There are several reasons that WHERE may fail to return results:
- No locations were found within 50 miles of your location
- Your address or zip code was not understood
- You misspelled the business name (for example, you typed "Barnes and Nobel" instead of "Barnes and Noble")
Why aren't the results close to where I am?
Occasionally, when you use a city name or zip code to specify your address, you may get locations that aren't the closest to where you are. Some cities and zip codes cover large areas, so searching by full address usually give more precise results.
Why did it take so long for the results to arrive?
WHERE sends your reply within seconds of receiving it. Depending on network conditions, reception, and your carriers routing, it may take the text message a longer time to arrive.
